I don't know what it is.......
I think I'm going through a slump. It's Friday night. I want a few hours of freedom and relaxation. The problems: I'm so far past exhausted that I can't fall asleep. I just went to the gym and I'm not in the mood to go again. Don't want to watch a movie. Don't have a book. Tired of looking at my computer screen. Want a break from homework. Not hungry. No friends. Nothing to do in Ephraim. No money to do anything with anyways. Does anyone have any suggestions about something to do in times like this. These are the times where I have to find a hobby because I get to sitting and thinking to long about things and I end up getting discouraged and depressed, stressed and overwhelmed, frustrated and annoyed. Bah!! I need something to occupy my brain. Ahhhhh!!!!!
Woah. Emotions are surfacing that I have never had before. I've just been talking to my roommate......she is practically engaged....or will be soon. I'm feeling frustrated towards her, even though she is one of my best friends, because I can't even have a normal conversation with her anymore. Everything is focused around this kid and how much she likes him, how much she misses him, how cute he is, what he said to her. I don't want to hear it any more. I'm happy for her. He's perfect for her. I just want her to be interested in me for 5 seconds without needing to text him about it. *sigh* I don't know. I guess I just need to grow up and deal with it. I'm sure it won't be the last time something like this will happen. It just makes me sad, and probably jealous, and I feel stupid about it. Grrrr.
Well, perhaps I will go swimming again. Something to do. Blah.
Hope everyone else's lives are running a little more smoothly than mine!
Good night!

Kristen, People (particularly extra young people) are stupid when they are in love.....a little more maturity, and you can handle the love feelings better, and still be a whole and normal and functioning person. Amy is not 'whole' anymore, because she is so focused on just 'him' and her feelings. If you get tired of listening to her everlasting boyfriend chatter....go for a walk, or go into your room, or go and talk to someone else....:)
I also worry about so many depressed days that you have. I am wondering if we shouldn't have you take something like Lisa does. It really makes a HUGE difference in her life. You should #1 not be so tired all the time, though I know this has been an everlasting problem. #2 not be so lonely/sad/bored/etc. on so many days #3 be able to find joy in the simple everyday things. We have known for a while that your hormones are somewhat out of whack.....let's get you to Lisa's Dr. the next time you come home, and see what they can find out!
You have a whole ARMY of people that love you and are praying for you.....some here on earth and some up in Heaven!!
Muffin-
Hey friend. Be glad that you can get up and go to the gym... I'm jealous! I've wanted to go swimming for months- that sounds like so much fun! Let's see... other things to do when you don't feel like doing anything:
write a letter to someone
scrapbook
take out colored pencils and draw a picture (that's one I did yesterday)
go build a snowman
get ahead on homework/reading
stretch out/exercise
turn off the computer and take a walk
go knock randomly on someone's door to say hi
make brownies
try a new recipe
knit/crochet (that's a cheap hobby)
make something for my baby or one of your other nieces/nephews
take a bubble bath
give yourself a mani/pedicure
go get a haircut (another thing I want to do....)or try a new hairstyle
go try on someone's shoes
play a board or card game
write a post for one of our business blogs (make $$)
go join a ping pong or pool game at the institute or student center
go to a dance and even if you never dance with anyone just play around and practice steps with a roommate/friend
visit a turkey farm
or when all else fails, just brush your teeth. :) that always makes me feel better.
You just have to get used to entertaining yourself all the time and keeping yourself busy-- it can be tons of fun!!
Good luck!
Love you,
Annie
Engaged roommates are obnoxious.
And I, too, know what it is like to be depressed. Some days, I just don't have anything to do that motivates me.
Wish I had some suggestions...
Kristen,
In response to your Blog Post, I am going to send you a copy of the talk I gave in church last Sunday to your e-mail. Hope it helps.
Andrew would say, "Listen to good music." He's right. I would add, "Do something special for someone." It's exciting and fun. And at night, go to bed early, hug a teddy bear, listen to that glorious music, and feel wrapped up in the love that your family and your Heavenly Father have for you.
